Just Stop Talking
“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently.”
― Maya Angelou

The appearance of an angel in scripture is not a real shock to us. We read about them repeatedly throughout the Bible especially when something big is coming. They make great proclamations, declarations, and even sing in great chorus. It is however worth noting the conversation that takes place in this scripture between Gabriel and Mary. The angel speaks, Mary listens, Mary responds, the angel listens, the angel responds again with clarification, and Mary declares her understanding and accepts the job that is being proposed. That back and forth, listening and responding, is a real conversation. That doesn't happen everyday for angels or for us!
Do you remember the last meaningful conversation you had? Something more meaningful than "It sure is cold out there today!" or "How about those Braves?" Who do you reserve those deeper conversations for? When you don't understand something are you asking for clarifications? And just as importantly waiting for an answer? Be sure to take time to ask questions and seek clarification. There is a lot in the world today that we don't understand. The answers are out there. Are we listening for them?
