In October, we read Malinda Lo's Last Night at the Telegraph Club. This young adult novel helps us think through the needs of LGBTQ+ young people and the histories that form them. Last Night at the Telegraph Club follows a young girl, Lily, coming of age in a Chinese immigrant household. The novel takes place in San Francisco during the Red Scare and Lavender Scare. As Lily explores her sexuality, she reckons with how people view her, the political implications, and what it means to truly love. After you have read the book, Youth Mission Co invites you to consider the following questions. These are designed specifically to help you think about parenting, spiritual care, and youth ministry with queer folks.
