Title: Sinking In
Have you ever received news so big that the reality of it took days to sink in? I’m a processor. I need time to think to truly understand. I can hear the big news, I can repeat the big news, I can fake believing the big news, and maybe even spring into action if needed but it usually takes time for the reality of big news to sink in for me. I need time to process.
Today’s scripture, the beginning of Mary’s song, feels like the moment it clicked for Mary. The moment that the big news finally sank in. She had heard the big news, and even repeated the big news but this feels like the moment it became real. And she was overwhelmed. Overwhelmed to the point that her words were not her own, but words of scripture. Words from her past. Words from her heart. She let it sink in and it finally became real.
Challenge: “What are we waiting for?” Today I challenge you to do just that. Wait. Take the time you need to process this big news, because the coming of Christ is big news. So slow down, stop, process, wait and let it sink in.
Prayer:
God of greatness, we thank you for the magnitude of your plan. Forgive us for not always understanding and accepting this plan right away. Help us take time this week to appreciate the enormity of what you have done for us. Amen.
