Advent Devotion: December 5, 2023
1 Corinthians 1:3-9
Not Lacking
Do you ever doubt your ability to make a difference? I know I do. It is so easy to feel like we are not enough. We live in a culture that tells us we should be smarter, we should work harder, we should be more popular…the list goes on and on. Sometimes it can feel like we can never do enough to be good enough.
In this pause together I am glad to find these encouraging words from Paul in today’s text; “you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ.” As we wait for Christ, God has gifted us with what we need. Trusting in God’s grace we can be confident that together we have everything we need to live faithfully as we wait.
Challenge: Take time to consider what gifts God has given you to share with the community. Consider encouraging someone else by sharing with them the gifts you see in them.
Prayer:
God of abundance,
We give thanks for the many gifts you have given us
Show us how we can use our gifts to serve and encourage those around us.
Amen
